Azienda Agricola Camerano
The Camerano winery is located in the village of Barolo, in the heart of the “Vecchio Langhe.” Founded in 1875, it is the second oldest winery in the region. The Camerano family has been producing classic Piemonte wines for 5 generations, exclusively using grapes from their 9 hectares of vineyards, of which 6.5 are planted with the noble grape of the region: Nebbiolo.
Due to the age of the old vines and careful vineyard management, yield is extremely low. This intentional restraint leads to fruit of impressive complexity. The creation of Camerano’s Barolos begins with 10 to 15 days of maceration. After fermentation, the wine is aged in old barrels of 250, 300, and 500 liters. In keeping with the old traditions of the region, the Barolos never see new oak. This allows for the fullest expression of terroir and fruit. In a region respected for its traditions, the Camerano family is exceptional for its reverence for the wisdom of the past. The Cameranos do things as they have been done for generations. They believe that nature and regional wisdom should be respected when making Barolo, the king of Italian wines. Only by being stewards will winemakers allow the region's singular terroir to shine on its own.
