Viteadovest
Viteadovest is a small family-run winery located on the western coast of Sicily near the town of Marsala. The land has been planted with vines for over a century. However, the grapes were historically sold to small shops or to the wine factories of Marsala to produce simple, blended wines for local consumption. It wasn't until approximately a decade ago, when two families, the Puleo Portellis and the Angileris started a new partnership and Viteadovest was reborn as a grower-producer estate. Viteadovest is certified organic, but its reverence for the land and commitment to sustainability far exceed the requirements of organic agriculture. Viteadovest believes that great achievements in wine are realized through harmony between mankind and environment. Their main tool in the vineyards is observation; they use no fertilizers of pesticides. Instead, they favor the pace of nature and employ agricultural techniques grounded in tradition, adapted by experimentation. All grapes are hand harvested, fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, nothing is added to the wines which always rest on their lees until bottling, without any fining or filtering. In other words, these wines are pure and expressive. They tell stories and stir emotions.
